Doxalin
Oral solution for veterinary use.

Target species: Poultry and pigs.

Composition
Each 1 mL contains:

Active substance: Doxycycline (as hyclate) — 100 mg.
Excipients: Sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, anhydrous citric acid, flavouring (Pecuaroma), propylene glycol.

Appearance: A clear yellow, brownish or brown liquid with a characteristic odour.

Indications
For the treatment of bacterial respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases in poultry and pigs, including salmonellosis, colibacillosis, enteritis, enzootic pneumonia, pasteurellosis, mycoplasmosis and infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to doxycycline.

Administration and dosage
The product is administered orally via drinking water for individual or group treatment at the following doses:

• Poultry: 0.5–1 mL per 1 L of drinking water, equivalent to 50–100 mg of doxycycline per litre of drinking water, for 3–5 days.
• Pigs: 1 mL per 10 kg of body weight, equivalent to 10 mg of doxycycline per kg of body weight, once daily for 5 days.

During treatment, animals and birds must receive only drinking water containing the product. The medicated Doxalin solution must be used within 24 hours and prepared fresh daily.

Presentation: 1 L.

Contraindications
Do not use in animals hypersensitive to tetracyclines. Do not use in cases of renal insufficiency, during pregnancy or lactation, or in laying hens.

Adverse effects
During treatment with Doxalin, animals should be protected from sunlight, as the antibiotic may increase skin photosensitivity. Prolonged treatment may cause intestinal disturbances.

Withdrawal period
Meat may be used for human consumption after the following periods have elapsed since the last administration:

• Poultry: 6 days.
• Pigs: 10 days.

Storage conditions
Store in a dry, cool place, protected from light, at temperatures between 0°C and 25°C.
Keep out of reach of children.

Shelf life: 3 years. After opening: 28 days.
