Newcastle Vaccine for Poultry
Target species: Domestic poultry
Composition:
Used as a lyophilized powder for preparing an injectable suspension.
The vaccine is produced from the extra-embryonic fluid of SPF chicken embryos infected with Newcastle disease virus (strain "H"), with the addition of the following stabilizers: sucrose (10%), peptone (4%), gelatin (1%).
The vaccine is a gray porous dry mass that dissolves easily in physiological saline.
Directions for use:
The vaccine is intended for immunization of adult chickens, guinea fowls, and turkeys in farms unfavorable for Newcastle disease.
Immunization is performed on clinically healthy birds starting from 60 days of age, ensuring strict isolation from younger, unvaccinated birds.
The vaccine is administered intramuscularly.
Sterile physiological saline is added to the ampoules containing the lyophilized virus in the amount indicated on the label, preparing the working vaccine dilution at a ratio of 1:1000.
Example: 0.1 cm³ of vaccine virus is mixed with 0.1 cm³ of saline and then diluted up to 100 cm³ (adding 99.9 cm³ of saline).
Dosage:
The reconstituted vaccine is administered as follows:
Chicks up to 120 days old — 0.5 cm³ each
Adult chickens and guinea fowls — 1.0 cm³ each
Adult turkeys — 2.0 cm³ each
Injection is made into the breast or thigh muscle. The needle should be inserted into the middle part of the breast muscle at a depth of 0.3–0.5 cm at an acute angle directed toward the head (inserting toward the tail may puncture bone or liver and cause death).
Side effects:
When used as directed, side effects or complications are generally not observed.
A slight swelling may appear at the injection site, which disappears within 2–3 weeks.
No symptoms of Newcastle disease or other pathological signs are observed even in case of overdose.
Packaging:
Vaccine is supplied in ampoules containing 1 cm³ of vaccine virus (100 doses).
Contraindications:
Do not use together with other immunobiological preparations.
Do not vaccinate weak, debilitated birds or chicks under 60 days of age.
Storage conditions:
Store and transport in a dry, dark place at +2 °C to +8 °C.
